Minnesota Masonic Charities Scholarships Frequently Asked Questions

May I apply for more than one Masonic Charities Scholarship listed?

No, a student may only apply for one scholarship based upon meeting the requirements of the specific criteria for that scholarship.

Do you have to have a Masonic Affiliation (be a member of a Masonic organization or have a family member who is a member) to apply for a scholarship?

The question is asked on the application as a point of interest to our organization, but an affiliation is not required.

Can home school or private school students apply?

Yes, if you meet all of the requirements listed for a particular scholarship.

How can I submit a letter of recommendation (or transcript) if my school does not allow students to have the letter (or transcript)?

The Submittable online application will allow you to provide an email address to contact the person submitting your letter of recommendation or transcript, which will then allow that person to submit your information directly.

Do I have to request an “official” transcript or ACT score?

You are not required to pay for and submit an official copy of either your transcript or ACT score. If you have access to your transcript, you may upload that document to your application. If your school is submitting for you, it is your responsibility to contact the appropriate person who will be submitting your document(s).

A copy of your ACT Composite score may be uploaded to your application, if it is not provided on your Transcript.

What does the Scholarship Committee look for in a potential scholarship recipient?

The Scholarship Committee is looking for a well-rounded individual who will best represent our organization–an individual who is a good student, demonstrates good character, is involved in their school and community and who has articulated clear educational goals.

Applicants should make an effort to concisely share appropriate information so that the reviewer feels they know that student as a person.
